Waiakea brand of bottled water comes from the big island of Hawaii. The rain and snow that falls on the island's Mauna Loa volcano travels down the sides of the volcano to the ground where it penetrates through to the layers of rock below. This water actually makes a journey that takes it through thousands of feet of volcanic rock, which filters it while also enhancing it with essential minerals. The water eventually emerges in the Pahoa aquifer located on the eastern side of the volcano. The Mauna Loa volcano is situated in a remote area on the island of Hawaii. Surrounded by dense forest preserves, the spring where the water for Waiakea emerges is located in a protected environment. The amazingly pure state of this water is what gives it a smooth and refreshing taste. This water is captured at its source and placed inside bottles made of RPET plastic to reduce the carbon footprint left behind.
